Married & Successful or Single & Succesful: Which is better?

I was talking to one of my close friends who was about to turn 30 and she was very excited about her upcoming birthday celebrations and her many accomplishments thus far in life. She expressed to me that she didn’t know too many happily single, successful women who didn’t have any children and in their early to mid-thirties. She also expressed that she has realized that was how her life was going to be and she was okay with that.

Immediately, I became offended, because I am in my early thirties, married with children and have two degrees and working on my doctorate and I am extremely happy with my life choices. I quickly ended our conversations by explaining to her that I wouldn’t be attending her birthday festivities due to a prior scheduled eye surgery and that I will be speaking with her soon.
Since that day, our conversation has bothered me and I have contemplated as to whether or not I would say something to her and/or write a post about it…Well, I’m writing the post and I still haven’t talked to her about her comments, but we’ve talk several times since then.

I feel that finding true love and starting a family is success and that is all a person needs. Some people will never experience being someone’s spouse or parent and they are stuck burying themselves in their jobs and spending countless time with fake friends, who doesn’t care about…when its all said and done, they find themselves home alone with no one, but a pet something to talk to.

So it’s on you Kreative Readers (KR), what’s your point of view? Leave me a comment on your thoughts on both situations.

World AIDS Day 2010

Today is World AIDS Day and I would like to join in with lots of others who are raising awareness of HIV/AIDS and promoting prevention and the search for a cure.

There are lots of people in the world who are living with the disease and many others who have lost their lives.  Please visit here to become more aware of this epidemic and visit your local health department and/or personal doctor to get tested.
